| Eight of us took the ride to Ely.
(Mike Robinson, Vince Haack, Al Sorem, Greg Speed, Red Adair,
Ann Sherman, Mike Eastwood and Gary Kechely) It was a little chilly in spots and one short
stretch of "boulders" on the road but it was a great
time.
With Greg Speed as our leader, we
left Donahue's promptly at 8 am Saturday morning. It was a
little chilly but warmed up as we neared Duluth. After a
mandatory stop at the Harley dealership in Duluth, we continued
up the north shore and on to Ely. We had thought we had missed
the road construction - surprise - we didn't. We had about a
mile or so of "boulder". We made it to our motel just as the
rain started. Some of us were in bed by 9!
Sunday morning we left Ely at 7:30.
We road in cold thick fog to Cook. Had breakfast at a great
little local cafe. We really didn't stop to take off layers
until Grand Rapids. Our last stop was for ice cream in Outing -
then home. It was a great
trip. Let's make the next one down the St. Croix just as much
fun. As you will notice -
Al is in none of the photos. He was our official photographer.
Thanks Al!! |
